"Classified Misinformation" Released on iTunes, Amazon and Google Play

By Julie Perine on January 16, 2015

“Classified Misinformation” – the debut album of the area’s newest rock and roll band, “The Grey Agents,” has been officially released and is now available on iTunes, Amazon and Google Play.

The project has been more than a year in the making by band members Brian Cottrill, Bob Workman, John Farmer, Davin Seamon and John Forester. The 15 tracks reflect rock and roll nostalgia with a modern enthusiasm.

Frontman, vocalist and chief songwriter Brian Cottrill said although he had played with each of the musicians at different times, they had not all played together until they recorded the first two songs of the project.

“They sounded great and it was magic,” he said.

The fact that each of the instrumentalists has enough talent to be out touring with major bands contributes to the reason they guys all clicked, Cottrill said. But there’s more to it than that.

“What's really great is that they all play what's right for the song and not their ego,” he said. “And all of us listen to each other's suggestions to make the songs better. That's what makes a band great.  It's not just pure technical ability; it’s knowing what to play and when not to play - all the while leaving your ego out.”

Cottrill said band members are anxious to see if people like the CD and specifically what they like - or don't like - about it.

“We put a lot of work into it,” he said. “It's like building a house.  You start with nothing and in the end, you have something.  You want to show off your new house.”

The project features all original material.

“We love writing our own music and writing our own parts,” Cottrill said. “It can get old always playing someone else's music.”

With each of the musicians having a demanding professional career – as well as a wife and kids - it was difficult to find enough time to record the music.

“It took a year to find the time to do it all,” Cottrill said. “Our families come first.  But we love music so much that we never stopped playing.  We are still in love with music and still love playing it.”

“Classified Misinformation” can still be purchased at The Music Center, 795-B, West Main Street, Bridgeport (304) 842-8510 or through any band member.

A CD release party will be held 8 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Main Street Cafe, Clarksburg featuring "The Grey Agents" live. Cover charge is $5. Doors open at 7 p.m.
