DHHR Reports 119 New Cases of COVID-19; Harrison County's Number Now at 197; State Deaths Remain at 117

Editor's Note: Starting Aug. 1 the DHHR switched to just one COVID-19 statistic update per day. The daily reports are scheduled to be released at 10 a.m.
 
The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources is reporting as of this morning (Monday, Aug. 3) at 10 a.m., the total number of COVID-19 cases has increased from 6,854 to 6,973; an increase of 119. 
 
Monday's report is showing that the total number of tests given is 294,902 and the percentage of positive cases vs. tests given is at 2.36 percent. The daily percent positive is at 3.18 percent (daily tests/confirmatory test results).
 
According to the DHHR website, Harrison County's numbers are at 197 confirmed cases, 1 probable case, 52 active cases, one death and 145 recoveries. 
 
As case surveillance continues at the local health department level, it may reveal that those tested in a certain county may not be a resident of that county, or even the state as an individual in question may have crossed the state border to be tested.  
 
Also, the DHHR is reporting the number of statewide deaths remains at 117.
 
The number of recoveries from the virus is at 4,918 with active cases at 1,938.
