DHHR Reports 249 New COVID Cases; Harrison County's Active Cases at 11; State Deaths at 7,594

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on November 23, 2022

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources is reporting as of this morning (Wednesday, Nov. 23) the total number of  COVID-19 cases has increased to 613,165 with an increase of 249 new cases since the last update.

Wednesday's report shows the percentage of positive cases vs. tests given is 8.54 percent. The daily percent positive is at 7.32.

According to the DHHR website, Harrison County's numbers are at 24,988 (16,516 confirmed and 8,462 probable). Harrison County's active cases are at 11. There have been 24,691 recoveries and 276 deaths.

Please note that delays may be experienced with the reporting of information from the local health department to DHHR. As case surveillance continues at the local health department level, it may reveal that those tested in a certain county may not be a resident of that county, or even the state as an individual in question may have crossed the state border to be tested.

The state's cumulative number of COVID-releated deaths is at 7,594 with four deaths reported since the previous report.

DHHR has confirmed the deaths of an 80-year old female from Wyoming County, an 80-year old female from Summers County, a 71-year old male from Mingo County, and a 96-year old female from Cabell County.

"As the holidays approach, I send my condolences to families who have lost a loved one due to COVID-19,” said Bill J. Crouch, DHHR Cabinet Secretary. “I urge West Virginians to receive a vaccine or booster to protect themselves and loved ones from severe outcomes from COVID."

There are 664 active cases and there have been 604,907 recoveries.
