The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources is reporting as of this morning (Monday, May 3) the total number of COVID-19 cases has increased from 154,207 to 154,51, an increase of 344.

Monday's report is showing that the total number of tests given is 2,746,420 and the percentage of positive cases vs. tests given is 5.15 percent. The daily percent positive is at 4.97 percent (daily tests/confirmatory test results).

According to the DHHR website, Harrison County's numbers are at 5,621 (3,939 confirmed cases,1,682 probable cases), 112 active cases, and 74 deaths with 5,435 recoveries.

The total number of deaths related to the coronavirus has increased from 2,686 2,695.

DHHR has confirmed the deaths of a 96-year old female from Monongalia County, a 92-year old male from Kanawha County, a 75-year old female from Jackson County, a 70-year old female from Ohio County, a 60-year old female from Kanawha County, an 87-year old female from Tyler County, a 71-year old male from Jefferson County, an 88-year old male from McDowell County, and a 65-year old male from Monongalia County.

“This is an incredibly difficult time for the families and friends of these West Virginians,” said Bill J. Crouch, DHHR Cabinet Secretary. “We offer our deepest sympathies to these families.”

The number of recoveries from the virus is at 144,320 with active cases at 7,140.
