DHHR Reports 641 New COVID Cases; Harrison County's Active Cases at 146; State Deaths at 6,993

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on May 25, 2022

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources is reporting as of this morning (Wednesday, May 25) the total number of  COVID-19 cases has increased to 512,571 with an increase of 641 new cases since the last update.

Wednesday's report shows the percentage of positive cases vs. tests given is 813 percent. The daily percent positive is at 14.26 percent (daily tests/confirmatory test results).

According to the DHHR website, Harrison County's numbers are at 20,461 (13,971 confirmed and 6,490 probable). Harrison County's active cases are at 146, there have been 20,061 recoveries and 254 deaths.

Please note that delays may be experienced with the reporting of information from the local health department to DHHR. As case surveillance continues at the local health department level, it may reveal that those tested in a certain county may not be a resident of that county, or even the state as an individual in question may have crossed the state border to be tested.

The state's cumulative number of COVID-releated deaths is at 6,933 with one death reported since the last update.

DHHR has confirmed the death of a 90-year old male from Putnam County.

“We send condolences to this family and to all who are grieving on this somber morning,” said Bill J. Crouch, DHHR Cabinet Secretary.

There are 2,157 active cases and there have been 503,481 recoveries.
