DHHR Reports Increase of 156 Cases of COVID-19; Harrison County's Number at 322; State Deaths at 280

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on September 15, 2020

Editor's Note: Starting Aug. 1 the DHHR switched to just one COVID-19 statistic update per day. The daily reports are scheduled to be released at 10 a.m.

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources is reporting as of this morning (Tuesday, Sept. 15) at 10 a.m., the total number of COVID-19 cases has increased from 12,820 to 12,976; an increase of 156.

Tuesday's report is showing that the total number of tests given is 490,342 and the percentage of positive cases vs. tests given is at 2.65 percent. The daily percent positive is at 4.15 percent (daily tests/confirmatory test results).

According to the DHHR website, Harrison County's numbers are at 322 (321 confirmed cases, 1 probable case), 66 active cases, and seven deaths with 249 recoveries.

As case surveillance continues at the local health department level, it may reveal that those tested in a certain county may not be a resident of that county, or even the state as an individual in question may have crossed the state border to be tested.

Also, the DHHR is reporting the number of statewide deaths has increased from 275 to 280. DHHR has confirmed the deaths of an 87-year old male from Logan County, a 93-year old female from Mason County, a 66-year old female from Mercer County, an 88-year old female from Kanawha County and a 91-year old female from Kanawha County.

The number of recoveries from the virus is at 9,536 with active cases at 3,160.
