Editor's Note: Starting Aug. 1 the DHHR switched to just one COVID-19 statistic update per day. The daily reports are scheduled to be released at 10 a.m.

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources is reporting as of this morning (Saturday, Oct. 17) at 10 a.m., the total number of COVID-19 cases has increased from 19,580 to 19,801 an increase of 221.

Saturdayt's report is showing that the total number of tests given is 671,463 and the percentage of positive cases vs. tests given is at 2.83 percent. The daily percent positive is at 2.51 percent (daily tests/confirmatory test results).

According to the DHHR website, Harrison County's numbers are at 619 (595 confirmed cases, 24 probable cases), 193 active cases, and 10 deaths with 416 recoveries. Also on the daily alert map, Harrison County dropped from yellow to green with a positive rate of 2.90. Harrison County's infection rate is still orange but dropped from 24.85 to 17.63.
