Deadlines Approaching for Marsha Greathouse Painting Events through Bridgeport Parks and Recreation

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on June 10, 2021

Registration must be completed today to participate in Marsha Greathouse's Palm Tree paint class to be held Sat., June 12 at Benedum  Civic Center.
The palm tree against a reflective sunrise will be painted on a 12x16-inch canvas, all materials included in the $20 class cost. The class take place from 10 a.m. through noon and is open to those age 12 through adult.

Sign up for this class or any of the following classes or camps at the Benedum Civic Center on West Main Street or by calling Bridgeport Parks and Recreation at 304-842-8240.

Registration is also open for the following classes/camps:

On Saturday, June 19, littler aspiring artists and a parent are invited to attend Mommy/Daddy & Me paint class. The $30 class cost covers all materials for the parent to paint a whimsical bumble bee/sunflower scene and a child – recommended ages 6 and above – to paint an accompanying piece based on the same theme.

The first kids’ art camp takes place June 22 through 25 (Tuesday through Friday). From 9 a.m. to noon daily, day campers ages 6-12 will learn about West Virginia and create Mountain State-inspired art through paint and other mediums. Among projects are outdoor painting on easels and various craft projects featuring the West Virginia black bear, cardinal, trout and maple tree. There will even be singing. The day camp
will be capped at 20 students and the cost for the four days is $100.

Featuring a beach theme, a second kids’ art camp will be held July 19-22 (Monday through Thursday). Again, the camp is geared for kids age 6-12. Sea creatures from seahorses to turtles will be created, again using a variety of art mediums. The cost is $100 per participant.

Greathouse will also be teaching painting/arts and crafts at the day camps offered at The Bridge Sports Complex this summer. For more information on those events, visit thebridgewv.com and look under Events/Summer Camps.
