Former Owner of WHAR as Well as Radio Personality, Flora Catherine "Flo" Vespoint, Passes at Age of 97

Flora Catherine “Flo” Vespoint, 97, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
 
She was born in Clarksburg on March 6, 1926, a daughter of the late Guy and Nancy (Aiello) Vespoint.
 
In addition to her parents, Flora was preceded in death by her siblings: Joe Vespoint, Teresa Vespoint, Veto Vespoint, Rose Diamond, and John Vespoint.
 
Flora is survived by four brothers: Leonard Vespoint and wife Josephine of Clarksburg, Salvatore “Sal” Vespoint of Annapolis, MD, Guy Vespoint Jr. of West Union, and James “Jim” Vespoint and wife Theresa of Stow, OH. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
 
Flora was a graduate of Washington Irving High School, Class of 1944, and attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She worked many years in Washington, D.C. for the government as a document handler. Later she returned to West Virginia and became co-owner of WHAR Radio. She enjoyed radio and especially her “swap-shop” program for many years. Flo enjoyed traveling with her sisters, knitting, and doing crossword and word search puzzles.
 
A gathering of family and friends was held on Saturday, November 25, 2023, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, 329 E. Main Street, Clarksburg, WV. Interment followed at Holy Cross Cemetery.
