Harrison County Man who Owned and Operated a Contracting Business, Leonard Van Courtney, Passes

Leonard “Len” Van Courtney, 75, of Lost Creek passed away on Friday, September 15, 2023, at the Salem Center. He was born on July 17, 1948, in Clarksburg, son of the late Vance Burdell and Pauline Hughes Courtney.
 
Leonard graduated from South Harrison High School and received his Associates in Industrial Arts at Fairmont State College. He was a self-employed contractor and could build and fix anything. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing, and hunting.
 
Leonard is survived by his sons, Richard Vance Courtney and Richard Lee Chipps, Lost Creek and his mother, Linda Joyce Westfall; loving companion, Helen Myers; daughters, Lisa and Lindena and their mother, Carolyn Courtney; one grandson, Christopher; one sister, Leatrice Gallien and Okey, Philippi; and their two daughters, Paulenna and Lyle, Teresa and Don; sister-in-law, Carla Courtney and son David; longtime family friend, Bill Bowyers and family.
 
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Larry Courtney.
 
Family and friends will be received at Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 from 1:00pm until the time of the Celebration of Life Service at 3:00pm with Pastor Randall Hughes officiating.
