Korean War Veteran, Business Owner Richard Shepherd Davis Passes Away at 91

Richard Shepherd Davis, 91, of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2024 at his residence.
 
He was born on April 8, 1933 in Clarksburg, a son of the late Dwight C. and Reva D. Shepherd Davis.
 
Richard was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lizbeth A. Hutton Davis. Richard was an active member of the Bridgeport United Methodist Church. He proudly served in the United States Army, where he toured in the Korean War.
 
He was also the proud owner and operator of Davis Construction Company. In his spare time, he enjoyed mechanic work, where he rebuilt many vehicles, listening to music, especially gospel by Elvis and country by Hank Williams Sr., and watching western shows. He loved his cats, Blue and KiKi.
 
He will especially be remembered by his friends and family for his sense of humor and personality, as he loved to tell a story to all who would listen.
 
Richard is survived by two sons, Richard B. Davis and his wife Darlene, and James B. Davis, one daughter, Elizabeth S. Davis Hyman, one stepdaughter, Lorna, six grandchildren, Jonha, Resabeth, Andy, Marie, James, and LeeAnne, two great grandchildren, Olivia and her fiancé Andrew, and Leah, two great-great grandchildren, Parker and Jasper, as well as several nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
 
In addition to his parents and wife, Richard was preceded in death by one stepdaughter, Pam, and one brother Dwight Davis.
 
The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Allen Chapel, 215 East Main Street, Bridgeport. In accordance with Richard’s wishes, cremation services will occur.
 
A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024 at 10 am in the West Virginia National Cemetery, 42 Veterans Memorial Lane, Grafton, WV 26354.
