A long-standing Bridgeport motel held a ribbon-cutting ceremony this past week to recognize a major makeover of the facility.
Super 8 by Wyndham, which is located at 168 Barnetts Run Road in Bridgeport and just below the Meadowbrook Mall, celebrated a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the remodeling of the hotel on Friday, August 30.
The motel has easy access off Interstate 79.
The chain was established in 1974 with its first location in South Dakota. The Super 8 brand prides itself on providing comfortable and affordable lodging for travelers for 50 years after its 50-year anniversary that is this month.
The event was attended by members of the Bridgeport City Council, representatives from Peoples Bank, and other local dignitaries.
The local chain’s remodeling involved painting and new furniture. No permit was required from the city for those upgrades.
Super 8 began business in October of 2006. Prior to that date, it was ran as an Econo Lodge, according to the Bridgeport Finance Department.
