Loretta JoAnn Gowers Flint, a Long-Time Kindergarten Aid at Simpson Elementary, Passes Away at Age of 80

Loretta JoAnn Gowers Flint, age 80, of Mt. Clare passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday morning, June 9, 2019.
 
Loretta was born February 15th, 1939 in Mt. Clare, a daughter of the late Ira Gowers and Nona Starcher Gowers.
 
Her husband of 38 years, Fred Flint, whom she married March 28, 1981, resides at their home in Mt. Clare.
 
Also surviving are her children, Loretta June Westfall and husband Donald of Sun Valley, Franklin Lee Dodd Jr. and companion Patricia of Buckhannon, Paula Renee Boyles and husband Paul of Wilsonburg, Kimberly Canterbury and husband Dale of Glade Springs, Chad Frederick Flint and wife Amie of Mt. Clare, and Jason Aaron Flint and wife Joni of Meadowbrook. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; and two sisters, Sharon Marteny and husband Roger of Bridgeport, and Lois Wamsley of Buckhannon; and her beloved Maltese, Daisy May.
 
In addition to her parents, Loretta was preceded in death by four brothers, Orlan, David, James and Robert Gowers; one sister, Juanita Swisher; one brother in law, David Wamsley; and, one niece Twilla Detrick.
 
Loretta was formerly employed with Anchor Hocking Glass Factory for over 21 years. She then went on to become a kindergarten aid at Simpson Elementary up until her retirement. In her spare time, she enjoyed arts and crafts, camping, dancing and painting. She loved children, having never met a stranger. She told everyone “I love you“. Above all, she was a devoted wife and mother who loved the Lord having been a member of the Congressional Missionary Church in Stonewood.
 
Family and friends may call at the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 in the Chapel of Peace from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at which time the services will begin with Reverend Sherman Goodwin presiding. Special music will be provided by Reverend Olen Robertson and his wife Linda.
