The Market Place at Bridgeport is about to be home to another business and this time it is a locally owned operation.
The Oil Spot, Inc., which has a site in Weston, is currently under construction at the development located just off Jerry Dove Drive and Interstate 79. The development is between the FBI’s entrance and the main entrance to White Oaks.
According to Herb Curtis, who owns the business with his wife Kim, the plan is to be in operation Jan. 2, of 2025. If all goes as planned, the roughly 4,800 square foot building will be able to provide services to Bridgeport and the surrounding communities at that time.
“That’s going to be pushing the timeline, but it’s been aggressive,” said Curtis, who said The Oil Spot was built in Weston in 2013 and he assumed ownership in 2022. “We talked with the construction supervisor a few days ago and we hope to be able to move in the key equipment, the lifts prior to Christmas and then be ready to open by our target date.”
As the name suggests, you will be able to get quick oil changes in two of the four garage bays that will be part of the building. Diagnostics, as well as general auto repairs – typically those three hours or less – can be managed at the site including brakes, rotors, tune ups. The site will also be a state inspection station, also doing modified inspections, as there will be lifts to take care of regular and fleet vehicles in two of the bays.
The Oil Spot also will offer tires for sale. Mount, balance, and lifetime rotation are also included in the mix.
One of the services that will be available is vehicle pickup and delivery. Curtis said a fulltime employee will go to job sites in the local area to allow for work to be done without the worry of having to leave your job to drop off your vehicle.
For those going there, Curtis said the lobby will have refreshments, big screen televisions, and comfortable seating. There will also be big screen televisions in the drive-through bays.
The business will be starting with nine employees. When those workers begin is in the hands of Mother Nature as the contractor, Accelerated Construction.
“The roof is just about finished and hoping to get the asphalt in the parking lot next,” said Curtis. “We’ll be starting the stucco soon. It’s all coming together.”
As for choosing the Bridgeport area for the second location of the business, Curtis said the reason was simple.
“Everything in that area, off Interstate 79, is quick paced with people traveling back and forth to work, traveling for the holidays, or running errands. It’s just a fast-paced environment with the hospital, the FBI, restaurants, and banks in the area,” he said. “People need things done quickly, and we are going to be able to provide something quick in the car care industry to make sure their vehicle is up to date and in good running condition. We’ll meet the fast pace with fast service.”
The hours of operation are planned to be Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. No appointments are necessary, but they can be made in house or on their Web site – including making them online after hours – once the business is open.
