By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on January 09, 2025

SUBMITTED TO CONNECT-BRIDGEPORT:

With the theme, "Honoring the Dream: A Call to Justice and Unity," The West Virginia Black Heritage Festival proudly presents the Martin Luther King Jr. Prayer Vigil and Youth Recognition on Monday, Jan. 20. The event begins at 6 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 316 EB Saunders Way in Clarksburg.

Join us for a powerful evening of reflection, prayer and community as we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The event will bring together leaders, musicians, and community members to celebrate Dr. King's enduring message of justice, unity and hope.

Event highlights include:

  • Praise and worship led by The World's Most Dangerous Recovery Band;
  • Prayers for justice, unity, courage and healing led by local pastors and leaders;
  • Presentation of the Deacon Allen Lee Award to honor exceptional community service and other honorable recognitions of youth in our community.

The event is open to all who wish to join in commemorating Dr. King's vision of a better world. Whether through prayer, music or heartflt reflection, this evening will leave you inspired to continue to dream.

For additional information, contact Cathy Burley 304-476-1434 or Kristi James at kristi.james@marshall.edu.

Let's come together as a community to honor the dream, stand for justice and build unity.
