Media: Bridgeport Mayor Lang Not to Face Charges in Assault Investigation Involving City Employee

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on April 14, 2025

According to WBOY, Bridgeport Mayor Andy Lang will not face charges in an assault investigation that was recently revealed involving a city employee.

You can read their story HERE.

Recently, the West Virginia State Police wrapped up the case involving the allegations and turned it over to the Harrison County Prosecuting Attorney's office.

On April 7, Lang released a statement to the media regarding the incident. The statement was as follows:

“I am aware that an employee of the City of Bridgeport made a complaint to human resources. The complaint stems from me having to have a private discussion with our City Manager. During the lead up to my conversation with the City Manager, I used some profanity. Upon learning of this complaint, I contacted Chief Mark Rogers. He suggested that the complaint should be addressed by an outside law enforcement agency. I agreed. Thereafter the WVSP were notified and I immediately cooperated with the WVSP’s investigation. Part of my cooperation included speaking, voluntarily, to the investigating trooper and suggesting that certain surveillance cameras be reviewed. I have since apologized to the city employees who were present when I used profanities.”

The WBOY article states that West Virginia State Police Sgt. Glaspell the criminal investigation against Lang is concluded.
