NDHS Senior, City Resident Behrens Continues Doing Big Things with Eagle Scout Project for Rail-Trail

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on May 25, 2023

Bridgeport resident and Notre Dame High School senior Will Behrens, who has had an incredible educational and civic journey already as a young man, took on Harrison County’s Rail-Trails as his Eagle Scout project.

In information provided by Kent Spellman, he said the Behrens created 12 mile markers for the Harrison South Rail-Trail, six mile markers for the Harrison North Rail-Trail, and eight benches to be placed along the trails.

Last week, Behrens presented a check of $2,805 to Harrison Recreational Trails, Inc. toward the construction of the Bill Foster Memorial Shelter along the Harrison South Rail-Trail near the Veteran’s Administration Park and the trail’s tunnel. Foster, said Spellman, was a long-time advocate of the trail.

The money provided by Behrens will be used to support trail amenities. Spellman said those involved are “grateful to Will for his work to enhance our trails.”

Member Bob Steptoe was unable to be in attendance. Photo by AmeriCorps trail supporter Jessica Bryzek.Special thanks to Kent Spellman for his assistance.
