During Monday’s busy Bridgeport City Council meeting there were a part of items involving law enforcement addressed by the city’s governing body. Both of the issues fell under the awards and presentations portion of the meeting.
Mayor Andy Lang took the floor to present a presentation for National Police Week. Lang was joined in front of those gathered by Bridgeport’s Prevention Resource Officers Jamie Hamrick and Austin Ash. Also on hand with those three was new Police Officer Clatyon Bee.
The proclamation is one annual for National Police Week. It takes place every May and celebrates the contributions of law enforcement from around the country, recognizing their hard work, dedication, loyalty, and commitment to keeping our communities safe.
Several other members of the Bridgeport Police Department were also on hand for the proclamation. They were also there to show support for the second item.
After the proclamation was read, Lang had Bee stand in front of Council as he was given the oath to serve as an officer of the City of Bridgeport. Lang administered the oath while Interim City Manager and Bridgeport Police Chief Mark Rogers stood by Bee’s side.
Bee recently completed training at the West Virginia State Police Academy and has begun training with a seasoned officer to get him ready to handle solo work.
