Part of Heavily Traveled Clarksburg Roadway Closed to July 26 as Water Board Continues Project Work

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on July 09, 2024

FROM THE CLARKSBURG WATER BOARD

The Clarksburg Water Board (CWB) is resuming critical water line replacement work on South Chestnut Street.  This work is essential to ensure the continued reliability and safety of our water infrastructure.

PHASE 1 (Today, July 9 through Wednesday, July 10): South Chestnut Street (Below Garfield Road to Roosevelt Road)

Starting tomorrow, South Chestnut Street will be closed from just below Garfield Road to Roosevelt Road.  This closure is anticipated to last approximately two days.  While the road will be closed to through traffic, residents living along this route will have access to their properties.  All other motorists are advised to follow the designated detour routes.

PHASE 2: (July 11 through July 26) South Chestnut Street (Harvey Street to Hayes Street)

Beginning on Thursday, South Chestnut Street will be closed from Harvey Street to Hayes Street.  This closure is expected to last for two weeks.  While the road will be closed to through traffic, residents living along this route will have access to their properties.  All other motorists are advised to follow the designated detour routes.

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • Events at Hite Field will not be impacted by these closures.
  • Residents and businesses on Harvey Street and Stadium Drive will retain full access throughout the construction period.
  • Residents along the affected section of South Chestnut Street will be able to access their properties via the detour routes.  The contractor will ensure access is maintained at all times.
  • The CWB is committed to having South Chestnut Street fully restored before schools reopen in August.

ADVICE FOR MOTORISTS

Please plan your commutes accordingly and allow for additional travel time.  We appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete this necessary infrastructure upgrade.

PROJECT UPDATES

For the latest information on this project, including any changes to the schedule, visit the CWB website at www.clarksburgwater.com or follow the CWB on social media at https://www.facebook.com/ClarksburgWaterBoard.

The CWB understands that this project has taken longer than initially anticipated and appreciates the public's continued cooperation.  Your safety and the reliability of our water system are our top priorities.
