Police Department Message for Residents Relating to Reports of Possible Homeless Sleeping in City, Parks

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on October 07, 2021

FROM THE BRIDGEPORT POLICE DEPARTMENT

The Bridgeport Police Department has recently received calls about possible homeless individuals sleeping in the parks and other places throughout the city. We ask that if you see individuals that may be homeless or in need of assistance to please contact the Bridgeport Police Department.

We have partnered with the WV Coalition to End Homelessness as well as WVU United Summit Center's QRT (Quick Reaction Team) to get as many individuals as possible the help they need. With colder weather coming soon their wellbeing is a real concern that the Bridgeport Police Department takes seriously. Should you know an individual that needs help, the phone numbers for the Coalition 304-842-9522 and WVU Summit Center's QRT 304-669-5871.

As always should you observe activity that is suspicious or criminal, please call 304-626-4900 (non-emergency number), this gets the information to a dispatcher who will have direct contact with our officers. This makes for a much quicker response time. The Bridgeport Police Department would like to thank everyone who assist us in keeping the community safe for all.
