Two Men from Bridgeport among Nearly 50 Indicted by September Term of Harrison County Grand Jury

By Jeff Toquinto on September 04, 2024

Two individuals from Bridgeport, both men, saw indictments returned against them by the September 2024 term of the Harrison County Grand Jury. Those two, along with dozens of others were indicted, according to the office of Harrison County Prosecuting Attorney Rachel Romano.

A total of 48 individuals were indicted during the term that began Tuesday, Sept. 3. The two from Bridgeport that were indicted were Cody Michael Camp and Daniel Walter Swanson.

The 21-year-old Camp saw one indictment returned against him. He was indicted for destruction of property.

Swanson, 59, was indicted on two counts. The two counts were both second or subsequent offense failure to provide notice of sexual offender registration changes by offender required to register for life.

Perhaps the highest-profile case in front of the grand jury involved the homicide of a Clarksburg man. The case involved the murder of 37-year-old Dallion Corbert Lewis.

Kameron Darnell Griffin, 24, of Akron, Ohio; Jennifer Ann Kirk, 48, of Clarksburg; and Dennis Allen High, 36, were indicted

Griffin was indicted on one count of murder, one count of kidnapping, one count of conspiracy to commit kidnapping, one count of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited from possessing a firearm, and one county of use or presentation of a firearm during commission of a felony. Griffin is listed as being from Akron, Ohio.

High, a resident of Salem, was indicted on one count of murder, one count of kidnapping, and one count of conspiracy to commit kidnapping.

Kirk, of Clarksburg, was indicted on one count of murder, one count of kidnapping, and one count of conspiracy to commit kidnapping.

Although not charged with murder, a fourth suspect in the case was indicted on multiple charges. The man in question, 36-year-old Douglas Ramsey Steiner, of Mount Clare, was indicted on one count of accessory after the fact to murder, two counts of delivery of a controlled substance, and one county of maintaining an unlawful dwelling (drug trafficking).

The murder took place in the Summit Park area of Harrison County.

Harrison County Circuit Judge James A. Matish presided over the grand jury session.

An indictment is merely an allegation, and each defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
