United Hospital Center Volunteer, Leader in Civic and Church Activities, Barbara Lopez, Passes at Age 81

Barbara Ellen Marcurella Lopez, 81, of Clarksburg, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2020, at UHC with family by her side. She was born February 1, 1939, in Clarksburg, daughter of the late John and Rose Marie Mancuso Marcurella.
 
Barbara was a lab tech, and had volunteered and was the president of volunteers for many years at UHC. She was a member and past president of Clarksburg Women’s Club. She was also a member of St. James Catholic Church and past president of St. James Altar Rosary Society in Clarksburg.
 
Barbara is survived by her husband, Marshall L. Lopez; children, Michael Lopez and wife Alice, Anthony Lopez and wife Betty, Denise Lopez Sleigh, and Terri M. Lopez, all of Clarksburg; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Edward “Eddie” Marcurella and wife Judy of Beaufort, SC; and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
 
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by one brother, Frank Marcurella.
 
Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Dr., Clarksburg, on Thursday, February 13, 2020, from 5-7 p.m., with a Catholic Vigil Service at 7 p.m. A Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be held at St James Catholic Church on Friday, February 14, 2020, at 10 a.m. with Father Akila Rodrigo as celebrant. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
