Off the Shelf: A Perfect Time to Get Romance Novels

By Savanna Draper on February 14, 2024 from Off the Shelf

Fall in love with a romance novel this Valentine’s Day! This February has some great new romance book releases and there is no better time to pick one up than during the month of love. All of these great reads are available to check out in print at the library, and many are available digitally as eBooks or eAudiobooks on Libby.

Tessa Bailey has become a very popular romance writer in the past few years with her books Hook, Line, and Sinker, Unfortunately Yours, Secretly Yours, and many others. Her newest title, Fangirl Down, is sure to be a hit as well. This book follows the story of professional athlete Wells Whitaker who eventually falls for his biggest fan Josephine Doyle. Josephine believed in Wells even when he didn’t believe in himself but wonders if she misjudged him when he quits golfing altogether. With Josephine’s help, Wells is able to get back in the game better than ever before, and soon, their romance begins to take off.

Red String Theory by Lauren Kung Jessen is all about the Chinese legend that everyone is tied to their one true love by a red string of fate. Main character Rooney Gao very much believes in this legend, and it begins to lead her to Jack Liu, but he is an unbeliever. Through a chance reconnection, Rooney may be able to convince Jack that she is indeed his destiny…

Last Call at the Local by Sarah Grunder Ruiz is a charming romance novel in which opposites attract. Over a pint at a pub one evening, Raine Hart accidentally insults both Jack Dunne and his pub. Instead of being offended by the comment, Jack is inspired by her vision of what the pub could be. As they work together on this project, they will have to find a way to let their relationship blossom or else lose the chance at a once-in-a-lifetime love.

The Catch by Amy Lea follows fashion influencer Melanie Karlsen and fisherman Evan Whaler in this romantic comedy. After a boating accident lands Evan unconscious in the hospital, Mel is mistaken for his fiancée and things get messy. Mel agrees to fake their engagement for one week in exchange for Evan's help with her social media content. Will they overcome these tricky waters and be in a relationship for real?

Girl Abroad by Elle Kennedy revolves around Abbey Bly who is studying abroad for a year in London. For the first time, she is free and has the opportunity to discover herself, but first, she has to meet her roommates. In a funny twist, it turns out she will be sharing her London flat with two guys! Soon, she finds herself torn between her two roommates—both of which she is interested in. She was hoping to find herself in London, but she got much more than she bargained for.

Another ultra-popular romance author, Ali Hazelwood, is back this February with a brand-new novel, Bride, with a supernatural twist. Misery Lark, the daughter of the most powerful Vampyre, is an outcast. She has been called upon to uphold a historic peacekeeping alliance between the Vampyres and their mortal enemies, the Weres. Everything goes south when Misery considers a marriage of convenience with the Weres Alpha, Lowe Moreland.
