Off the Shelf: Book Sale, Summer Reading Program in Place at Library and Limited In-Person Story Time

By Sharon Saye on June 09, 2021 from Off the Shelf

The library’s summer book sale continues through this week.   Prices will vary and are posted in the library conference room.   We have lots of books left and this week we are accepting donations for the book sale.  The book sale hours are noon until 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and noon until 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday.

There are loads of fiction, science fiction, mysteries, and children’s books, but very little nonfiction since we spent most of last year weeding the fiction collection.  We hope to hold another big book sale this fall, and we are now weeding the nonfiction collection so expect lots of choices then.

Another sign that the library is slowly returning to normalcy is that the 2021 Summer Reading Program is here.  It includes a 600-Minute Reading Challenge with a chance to win one of our grand prizes as well as at-home, “Make & Take” activities complete with video tutorials.

There will still be limited in-person events at the library, but a weekly “Summer Stories” story time will be available in-person as well as on our Facebook page.  This hybrid story time will be held on Wednesdays at noon and is appropriate for ages 0-6.  All our “Summer Stories” programs will be held in our children’s area, as well as livestreamed on our Facebook page so they can be enjoyed from home.
