Off the Shelf: Check Out - Literally - the Top February Book Choices by Librarians at Bridgeport's Library

By Sharon Saye on February 26, 2020 from Off the Shelf

LibraryReads lists the top 10 books published each month that librarians across the country love and recommend.  The list is usually published during the middle of the previous month.  Almost all the February titles are now available Including the Top Pick,” The Authenticity Project” by Clare Pooley, in which participants reveal their true selves in a notebook.

Other titles include the latest Eve Dallas novel by J. D. Robb, “Golden in Death,” as well as a look at the early days of Churchill as prime minister during the Blitz, “The Splendid and the Vile,” by Erik Larson.

Romance lovers with enjoy “Oona Out of Order” by Margarita Montimore in which a young woman faints and awakens in her 51-year-old body.  “The Worst Best Man” by Mia Sosa is “a classic enemies to lovers plot told from the perspective of both sides of the would-be couple.”
“The Other Mrs.” By Mary Kubica involves a family’s move to Maine after a family suicide that escalates into even more tragedy when a strange murder occurs across the street.  “Mercy House” by Alena Dillon focuses on a battered women’s shelter run by nuns that is threatened by its own church as well as a violent gang leader.

“Saint X” by Alexis Schaitkin is one of the most critically acclaimed books of the season concerning the obsession about the death of an older sister.  “The Girl in White Gloves” by Kerri Maher is a fictional account of the life of Grace Kelly.  And “The Bear” by Andrew Krivak follows a young girl and her father who live alone in the wilderness and their trip to the ocean.

All these books are available at the library or on order.  You can place holds on books that are available or on order, and you will be notified by email when they are available.  The March books have also been placed on order so if you want to be one of the first to get a LibraryReads book, don’t forget to place a hold.

You can go to www.LibraryReads.org for the current or past lists.  Their older lists are great places to look when you just can’t find anything you want to read.
