Off the Shelf: Good News for Fans of Mystery, Thrillers

By Sharon Saye on January 13, 2021 from Off the Shelf

Two brand new books have just been released that should please mystery and thriller fans everywhere.

“The Mystery of Mrs. Christie” looks at the real-life disappearance of famed author, Agatha Christie, in December 1926.  All investigators have to go on is an empty car next to a lake with a fur coat inside.  Her family has no idea where she is, and a nationwide hunt ensues.  Two weeks later she reappears claiming amnesia and never explains where she was.

Marie Benedict, the author of historical novels on such figures as Hedy LaMarr and Lady Clementine Churchill, brings her research and fiction skills to imagine what really happened during this traumatic event in the life of one of the most famed mystery authors.

Tarryn Fisher turns her writing skills to a thriller with loads of twists.  “The Wrong Family” reveals to its heroine, Juno, that people she thought were perfect may not be.  The Crouchs have a beautiful home, beautiful family, beautiful life, but when Juno takes refuge in their home after a brutal medical diagnosis, she sees cracks in the façade.  And after overhearing a conversation between the parents, she has to decide if she wants to use the time she has left to right some wrongs.

“The Wrong Family” is just the sort of book readers like as it twists and turns in unexpected ways.
