Off the Shelf: Goodbye October and Hello November as Library Hits New Month with More than 60 Events

By Savanna Draper on October 30, 2024 from Off the Shelf

With October coming to a close, the Bridgeport Public Library is ready to welcome November with over 60 programs and events for children, teens, families, and adults. On the docket this month are some familiar programs as well as some returning from a hiatus. This month and every month, we strive to provide programs that cover a wide array of interests, from coding and crafting to exercise and research, we have something for everyone!

Beginning with our offerings for children, teens, and families, we will host a Family Movie Night on November 1 at 5pm with snacks. On November 2, "Switch" It Up with our Nintendo Switch at 11am then stick around for Building Club at 12pm. Every Monday at 11am, we hold the Juice Box Social for children and families to socialize and explore the Children’s Library. On November 4 at 4pm, join Creativity Corner to make viscosity art. Visit Tabletop Adventures on November 5 at 4pm for a fun, role-playing game.

Every Wednesday at 12pm, join us for Brilliant Beginnings Storytime for our smallest patrons, and every Thursday at 3pm, join us for Little Learners Storytime for our preschool-age patrons. Teens should check out SnackChat every Thursday at 4pm for snacks and conversation. Our Teen ARTventures group will be making a fall candle holder on November 12 at 6pm. Teen Movie Night will be held on November 14 at 5pm with snacks. Stitch Squad will be making an autumn garland on November 18 at 4pm. Budding writers should join us for Young Wordsmiths on November 20 at 4pm.

The following programs are geared toward all ages (young children through older adults.) Makerspace Open Hours are every Monday at 1pm where you can use equipment such as our 3D printer, Cricut cutting machine, and more. Chess Club is held every Tuesday at 3pm for new and seasoned players alike. A larger event, our Author Meet & Greet, will be held on November 16 at 11:30am and will feature several local authors. Our Sign Language class, Signing Made Easy, will be on November 19 at 5pm. Join our Language Lounge on November 25 at 5pm to share and learn about different languages.

Adults don’t have to miss out on the fun! We will have a Zumba class on November 4 at 6pm. Our writing group, The Write Connection, will meet on November 5 at 5:30pm. If you have an interest in coding, join Code Club on November 6 at 5:30pm. We will have a Matinee on November 8 at 1pm with snacks. A new program, Ideas Over Coffee, will be on November 15 at 5:30pm. Our monthly painting program, Brush Hour, will be held on November 18 at 5:30pm. Our Genealogy Roundtable will meet on November 20 at 5pm. We will bring out the sewing machines for a sewing class on November 21 at 3:30pm.

All of these programs are free to attend, but some do require registration. Find these programs and more at bplwv.org/events.
