By Savanna Draper on March 27, 2024 from Off the Shelf

April will be arriving soon! We will be hosting over 60 programs this April for children, teens, families, and adults. It will be a busy month for us, and we hope you will come along for the ride! We will also be offering some special programs at the beginning of the month to celebrate the solar eclipse on April 8. Attendance at any of these special programs will earn you a pair of free eclipse glasses!

For those excited about the eclipse and are looking forward to a free pair of glasses, check out the following programs. For children and families, join us on April 1 at 4pm for Creativity Corner where we will be creating eclipse art with chalk. On April 2 at 4pm we will be hosting a craft program where we make cases for our eclipse glasses. On April 5 at 5pm we will have a family movie night with an eclipse-themed movie, popcorn, and drinks. Adults can join our monthly painting group Brush Hour on April 1 at 5:30pm where we will be painting an eclipse.

On April 3 at 3:30pm, we will host a crochet class to crochet an eclipse. Finally, everyone can join us for our Eclipse Watch Party on April 8 at 2:30pm in our rear parking lot! We will provide snacks and more eclipse glasses.

Now on to our regularly scheduled programs for children, teens, and families! On April 6 at 11am, play our Nintendo Switch for "Switch" It Up and then stick around for Building Club where we will break out the Legos at 12pm. Teens can join us for “I Felt That” where we will needlefelt carrots on April 9 at 4pm in our new Teen Space. Try out our 3D pens to make some spring-themed 3D Doodles on April 17 at 3pm. Another offering of this program is available later in the month.

We will host a Family Game Night on April 17 at 5:30pm where you can look forward to playing a variety of games. Join us in reading to the Mountaineer Therapy Dogs for our Reading to Dogs event on April 23 at 6pm. Teens are invited to participate in (T.A.G.) Teen Afternoon Gaming on April 24 at 3pm. Join us for our recurring programs as well! Every Monday at 11am we host Juice Box Social for children and their caregivers to socialize, every Tuesday at 3pm we host All Ages Chess Club, every Wednesday at 12pm we have our Brilliant Beginnings storytime, every Thursday at 3pm we have our Little Learner storyime, and also every Thursday at 4pm is our Snackchat teen program.

Adults can look forward to a busy April as well! On April 2 at 5:30pm we will have our monthly writing group, The Write Connection. There is a second offering of Philosophy Hour the following week.  Tech Savvy, our technology class for older adults will be held both on April 10 at 1pm and April 11 at 5pm.
