By Savanna Draper on January 18, 2023 from Off the Shelf

Chilly, dreary weather calls for comfort food. There’s nothing better than a warm, savory dish such as soup, stew, or chili on a winter evening. Most of us have a go-to recipe for these types of foods, but there’s nothing wrong with mixing it up or trying something new. You might even find a new family favorite! The library is chock full of great cookbooks featuring delicious images and recipes ranging from simple with few ingredients to master chef level. If you’re in the mood for some cooking, come check these out!

The Complete Soup Cookbook: Over 200 Satisfying Recipes for Every Appetite includes over 300 easy-to-follow recipes including Tomato and Beef Soup, Acorn Squash Soup, Indo-Chinese Hot and Sour Soup, and more! It includes recipes for all palates utilizing meats, seafood, legumes, nuts, and grains, plus vegan and gluten-free options. It also offers a variety of family-friendly recipes designed to be ready in 30 minutes or less.

The Dairy Hollow House Soup & Bread: A Country Inn Cookbook by Crescent Dragonwagon provides many recipes from the iconic Dairy Hollow House in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Some of the most notable soups include Winter Borscht, Cuban Black Bean Soup, Fishysoisse, Gazpacho Rosa, New World Corn Chowder, and Deep December Cream of Root Soup.
