Off the Shelf: Library to Feature Plenty of Festive Activities for All Ages Throughout December

By Savanna Draper on November 27, 2024 from Off the Shelf

The Bridgeport Public Library is getting festive this December with more than 60 programs and events for children, teens, families, and adults.

We are hosting several holiday-themed programs as well as most of our usual, recurring programs. If you’re trying to get into the holiday spirit, the library is the place to be.

We have an exciting lineup of holiday-themed programs and events this month.

On Dec. 5 beginning at 6 p.m., visit our booth at Light Up Night on Main Street in Bridgeport where we will have ornaments and holiday coloring books to give away.

On Dec. 7, you can see us in the Bridgeport Christmas Parade. After the parade, meet us at the library for a Holiday Harp Performance by Suzanne Stewart from noon-2 p.m.

On Dec. 12 at 5:30 p.m., the Bridgeport Student Orchestra will have a Holiday Performance in our Children’s Library.

Santa will be in the building on Dec. 13 at 3:30 p.m. for photos and cookies. The whole family is invited to join us for a Holiday Family Movie Night at 5 p.m. on Dec. 13. Popcorn and drinks will be provided.

On Dec. 14, meet the Library, Parks and Recreation, and StoryWalk at the Bridgeport City Park for this year’s Candy Cane Stroll.

We will continue to host Juice Box Social every Monday at 11 a.m., Chess Club every Tuesday at 3 p.m., Tabletop Adventures every Tuesday at 4 p.m., Brilliant Beginnings Storytime every Wednesday at noon, Little Learners Storytime every Thursday at 3 p.m., and Teen Snackchat every Thursday at 4 p.m. throughout December.

Our youngest patrons can join us for Creativity Corner on Dec. 2 at 4 p.m. to make holiday trees out of a variety of materials.

A new book club for ages 6-11, Bookwyrm Book Club, will have an open session on Dec. 6 at 3 p.m.

Our Teen ARTventures group will make Macrame Gnomes on Dec. 10 at 6 p.m.

Teens can join us for a Teen Movie Night on Dec. 19 at 5 p.m. with popcorn and drinks.

Adults can join us for Zumba on Dec. 2 at 6 p.m.

Our monthly writing group, The Write Connection, will meet on Dec. 3 at 5:30 p.m.

We will be hosting a very special Regency Era Tea for adults on Dec. 4 at 4 p.m.

Our monthly painting program, Brush Hour, will meet on Dec. 9 at 5:30 p.m.

We will have a Classic Movie Matinee on Dec. 13 at 1 p.m. with popcorn and drinks.

Come crochet a snowflake with us on Dec. 16 at 5 p.m.

A new program, Cozy Crafters, will have its first meeting on Dec. 23 at 5 p.m.
