Off the Shelf: Need Something to do in November? If so, the Library has Nearly 50 Programs Scheduled

By Savanna Draper on November 01, 2023 from Off the Shelf

It’s a busy November at the library! We are offering nearly 50 programs this month with something for everyone in the family. We would love to see you and your family at our library programs this fall! Keep reading to see everything that’s coming up.

We have several programs in store for children, teens, and families this month. As usual, we will offer our All-Ages Storytime every Wednesday at 12pm. We will also continue to offer Chess Club every Tuesday at 3pm and Library Ramble: A Walk in the Park every Thursday at 3pm. An event for all ages, Winter Planting Day, will be on November 3 at 3pm as we prep our Community Garden for winter hardy seeds. Come watch Homeward Bound with your family for Family Movie Night on November 3 at 5pm. We will provide popcorn and drinks. "Switch" It Up with our Nintendo Switch will be held on November 4 at 11am and then stick around for Building Club at 12pm where we will bring out the Legos.

A program for teens, Teen Painting Rocks, will be held on November 7 at 4pm. Bring your younger children to Creativity Corner: Chalk as Paint on November 13 at 4pm. Join us for 3D Doodles using our 3D pens on November 15 at 3pm. Due to popularity, there will be another offering of this program later in the month. If your child has an interest in coding, bring them to Code Quest on November 20 at 4pm. The whole family is invited to come read books to Mountaineer Therapy Dogs on November 28 at 6pm.

Adults have a full month of programming as well! We continue to offer our handicraft group, Hooks & Needles, every Wednesday at 11am and our PBS Masterpiece Theatre discussion group, Tea & Talk, every Monday at 1pm. One of our largest programs this month, our Author Meet & Greet, will be on November 6 at 5pm. We will have over a dozen local authors here to sell their published works and talk about their writing experiences. If you enjoy writing, join our monthly writing group, The Write Connection, on November 7 at 5:30pm. If you need help feeling more comfortable using technology, visit our Tech Savvy class on November 8 at 1pm. We will be holding our Community Roundtable on November 8 at 2:30pm to hear from our patrons over the age of 50 about how the library could be more accessible for them. We will be holding a giveaway of an HP laptop, iPad mini, and more at this event.

Our monthly painting group, Brush Hour, will meet on November 13 at 5:30pm. If you enjoy reading mysteries, check out our book club Read in Red, which will meet on November 16 at 1pm to discuss The Daughter of Time by Josephine Tey. We will host a matinee showing of Asteroid City (PG-13) on November 17 at 1pm. Popcorn and drinks will be available. Come learn how to make a Macramé Gnome on November 20 at 5pm. If you are interested in learning Sign Language, join us for Signing Made Easy on November 21 at 5pm. This program is appropriate for all ages. If you have an interest in genealogy, we will be holding a Genealogy Roundtable on November 29 at 5pm. Our fiction book club, Book Talk, will meet on November 30 at 4pm to discuss Hang the Moon by Jeannette Walls.

Find all of these programs and more on our website at bplwv.org/events. Some programs require registration.
