Off the Shelf: Public Invited to Come See Bridgeport Public Library's Latest Addition to Facility - Book Nook

By Savanna Draper on February 07, 2024 from Off the Shelf

The Bridgeport Public Library recently opened a new book sale room, or what we like to call, Book Nook! If you are familiar with the ongoing book sale that was located in the hallway of the library for many years, you will enjoy the new shopping experience our Book Nook provides. We offer more than just books in our Book Nook. You can find music CDs, audiobooks, DVDs, puzzles, board games, and more, though our inventory does fluctuate. We stock the Book Nook with items donated by the public and books that no longer circulate in our collection due to age or condition.

The Book Nook is open Monday-Friday 11:00am-6:30pm and Saturday 11:00am-1:30pm. The room is open for patrons to wander in and browse as they please. We have also organized the Book Nook in the same way as our library, so fiction can be found alphabetically, and nonfiction can be found in Dewey Decimal order. If you need help locating anything, our staff will be happy to help. We currently have a wide range of fiction books including general fiction, mystery, science fiction, and romance. We also have books available in almost every nonfiction subject.

For February, you can purchase a bag of books (bag provided) for $3.00 or books may be purchased individually for .25 cents each. Music CDs are .50 cents and everything else including DVDs, audiobooks, puzzles, and board games are priced as marked.

Also beginning in February, the library is happy to accept donations to be placed for purchase in the Book Nook. We will accept up to 40 books per individual with a preference of children’s literature and fiction books. We can accept donations at our front desk. We do ask that patrons please not place donations in our book return or outside.

Proceeds from our Book Nook go directly toward providing programs and materials for our patrons, purchasing new books and materials, and helping to purchase miscellaneous library supplies. If you have any questions regarding our Book Nook or donations, please give us a call at 304-842-8248.
