BHS Softball Standout Kyleigh Anderson Signs Letter of Intent with Bethany College

By Chris Johnson on April 11, 2025

Bridgeport High School softball standout Kyleigh Anderson finalized her plans to continue her career at the next level, signing her National Letter of Intent on Thursday to attend Bethany College.

The signing ceremony took place at BHS in front of a large crowd of family, friends, teammates, current coaches and former coaches.

“I believe it was my first visit,” Anderson said. “I went and I felt like that was a place where I could be comfortable for the next four years. I really enjoyed everything that is going on with their program.”

“It feels great. It’s something I’ve been working toward since freshman year, since I knew that four more years of this would not be enough. And their coaches were very welcoming. I think it’s a place I can fit in very well.”

Anderson’s overall skill set is punctuated by her versatility.

She can play anywhere in the field. She’s been the primary shortstop for the Indians her senior season. But she can pitch, she can play catcher, she can play center field, she can basically play any position in the field and is a dangerous hitter in addition to being a threat to steal anytime she is on base.

And that versatility played a major role in getting her to the next level.

“I feel like, me as a player, and my speed and aggression on the bases, at the plate, wherever in the field, I really fit in with their program,” she said. “I’m playing for four years, so throw me in different spots and let’s see what I can do.”

Anderson, who plans on majoring in criminal justice at Bethany, also acknowledges she wouldn’t be a collegiate softball player without her support system.

“The support is what got me here,” she said. “It means everything to me. My family, my friends, my softball girls, my coaches, my old coaches, came to watch this happen and I’m glad they were here because they were all a stepping stone for me to be at this point today.”
