The Grapevine: A Thank You to Family and Friends to Help Buffer Sting of Loss after the Passing of a Son

By Rosalyn Queen on March 20, 2025 from The Grapevine

I am sure that all my faithful readers know that the Grapevine has not been submitted in the last couple weeks. Many of you probably know the reason but for those that do not, I want to inform you that my son Marty passed awa on March 6. There are no words that can express my sorrow and the ups and downs and ins and outs that I am feeling now.

The purpose of this short column is to thank all those who have been here for me and my family over the last weeks. To all of my family’s friends, you appeared from nowhere and stayed with us supplying food and encouragement to get us through.

To the in excess of 600 people who visited the funeral home, your mere presence, your tight hugs, and your kind words helped soften the loss. To those who sent flowers or food, your effort was an expression of love for us. To those who participated in the mass, your presentations helped me say goodbye.

Now I do not know if my heart will mend but know that you all have and are helping me. It is at times like these that you realize how important all these people are in your life.

I hope that I will never have to return the favor, but life dictates that at some time I may.

Remember me and Marty in your prayers, a great big thank you and until next week, “Now You Have Heard It Through The Grapevine.”
