The Grapevine: Reliving Memories through Discarded Items, an Autumn Poem, Gatherings and More

By Rosalyn Queen on September 10, 2020 from The Grapevine

As I advised you last week, I am keeping myself busy going through boxes of files that I had packed away in the move.  I am now going through each file and discarding what needs to be discarded and keeping what needs to be kept.  It appears I am keeping more than I am discarding. I have to admit that I am reliving many memories.

Many of you will remember Dolores Stinespring, as she was very active in the community for many years. I had the opportunity to serve with her on several committees.

I ran across a card that she sent me with remarks about how much she enjoyed  Autumn and about October being her favorite month.  Dolores dabbled in writing poetry and was preparing a book of her poems.

I wanted to share the poem she sent to me.

Autumn by Dolores Stinespring

I hear you in the trees
I feel you in the air
I see that you have spread around
Your colors here and there

And if you were a dancer
I know what you would wear
A multi colored dress of silk
With robins In your hair.

Then Jack Frost would come along
And whisk you from the dance
Thus covering every trace of you
With white and icy hands.

Enjoy this as we prepare for the next season.

Just a reminder that the PWA members will hold a meeting on Friday at noon and I urge all of you to attend as we really need to solve a few problems. Meeting will be at the Center and lunch will be served.  RSVP. 304-624-6881.

I will be hosting a Cancer Survivor dinner on Sunday  Sept/ 27 at 5:30 at the Uptown Event Center. Special plans have been made for social distancing. Mark your calendar. See you there.

Take care and until next week “Now You Have Heard It Through The Grapevine.”
