The Grapevine: Several Harrison County Businesses Recognized for their 100-Plus Years in Community

By Rosalyn Queen on December 23, 2021 from The Grapevine

Members of the community gathered in the festively decorated dining room of the Uptown Event Center to observe the 100th anniversary of a few of the businesses in Harrison County.  The PWA was among those observing this special event and was joined by Sutter Roofing, Davis FuneralHome, Horner Brothers, and James and Law.  Members of the Diane Urchak family joined the group as a sponsor of the event.  A short history of the PWA was presented and each gust received a brochure outlining the 100 years of the PWA, formerly the YWCA.

Michael L. Queen, a representative of the office of the Secretary of State served as MC.  Lieutenant Dixon Pruitt led the group in the Pledge-of Allegiance and Rev. I. Harris gave the blessing for the meal.

A gift of a Time Flies clock was presented to the other 100th anniversary firms, from the PWA. And each spoke briefly about their organizations.Representatives of the sponsors of the event, Davis Funeral Home, The Diane Urchak family and Laura Goff Davis were introduced and thanked for their continued support.  The meal was catered by Brickside under the supervision of Randal Lynch and Mary Childers.

Queen installed the 2022 PWA officers.  Betty Waddy, President, Laura Goff Davis, Vice President, Sharon Twentier, Secretary and Rosalyn Queen, Treasurer

A very Merry and blessed Christmas to all my readers .May your season be filled with happiness and all your dreams come true.  Surround yourself with family and friends and especially remember “the reason for the season.”  Until next week “Now You Have Heard It Through The Grapevine.”
