The Grapevine: The Majesty of the Month of October and City Restaurant with Wonderful Item on its Menu

By Rosalyn Queen on October 08, 2020 from The Grapevine

As far as I am concerned October is the best month of the year.  Not only is it my birthday, but it is also the month that our hills turn vibrant with beautiful colors and then it is the month that produces all those wonderful colors.

It hardly seems possible  that it has been a year since my wonderful 80th birthday party.  It seems as though it was yesterday and the memories linger with me every day. Each of you made it one of the happiest days of my life. Thanks again.

Every day if you look to the hills you can see the beautiful colors creeping into the leaves and it will not be long until the green will have disappeared and all the autumn colors will be there. Fray Queen was in Morgantown this past week and he said the leaves there were already turning. To me this is part of the beauty of living in West Virginia.

I am waiting patiently for my first mushrooms.  I have everything ready.  I did order lids online but I understand that there are some available at stores in our area.

With the first batch I get I intend to put them down in the crock and then I will can a few in sauce and peppers.  If I get that many I will try to cold pack some pints to use this winter. I like to take those and fry them after dipping in egg and dusting with flour. These make wonderful appetizers.

I do not think that I shared with you that I had purchased an air fryer last year and had never used it.  Last week I decided it was time so I fried some chicken tenders And believe me there were great. All of these recipes are in my book, which is available at Tomaro's Bakery.

I was eating at Mountaineer Grill and ordered fried zucchini.  It was some of the best I have ever eaten. They prepare it like French fries and it really fit in with my diet.  Rose Scolapio gave me some zucchini from her garden and I am going to try to make them like fries in my air fryer.  Will advise as to my success.

I still get a little antsy staying in but I am trying to cope with it.  I decided I might need to do a little exercise so I bought five pound weights to use while I watch television.

Stay healthy, observe the quarantine restrictions and until next week “Now You Have Heard It Through The Grapevine.”
