After Months of Construction, City of Bridgeport has Opened its New Pickleball Facility at the Lakes Park

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on October 25, 2024

Bridgeport Parks and Recreation has announced that the near $500,000 pickleball court project at Deegan & Hinkle Lakes Parks are not only complete, but are officially open as of today.

Officials made the announcement on the city's Facebook page.

The project has been in the works for several months. There are eight pickleball courts in place at the brand new facility, as well as lighting. Eventually, there will be a picnic shelter and a restroom facility.

The main part of the project involving the construction of the pickleball courts was  done by Petrucci Brothers, LLC. The contract to construct the courts was for $340,225 with a 10 percent contingency of $34,022 for a total of $374,247.

While Petrucci Brothers handled that, the second contract with the project was for the lighting at the new courts. Musco Lighting handled that at a cost of $135,000 and also a 10 percent contingency of $13,500 for a total of $148,500.

Parks and Recreation officials say the following rules are in place:

• COURTS CLOSE AT DUSK- CLOSE GATE AND LATCH UPON LEAVING
• PLEASE PLACE ALL TRASH IN CONTAINERS
• NO BICYCLES, SKATES OR SKATEBOARDS ON SURFACE
• NO LOUD MUSIC
• NO PROFANITY
• NO YELLING OR SCREAMING – RESPECT YOUR NEIGHBORS
