City's Main Street Corridor Home to New Business with Vibe from the Past that Meets Needs of Present

By Jeff Toquinto on January 25, 2020

It’s a business within a business. And it’s a new one right in the heart of the city on Bridgeport’s Main Street.

Earlier this month, SunmoonApparel opened shop. For those wondering where it’s located, it’s nestled inside the Country Peddler building.

The brand isn’t entirely new, but it is new to having its own storefront location. Previously, the business operated online and had a location inside the Hometown Market Place situated at the Eastpointe Plaza in Clarksburg.

So, what can you get at this new small business?

“Everything in my store is thrifted; it’s a thrift shop,” said owner Kait Glaspell. “Me and one of my partners go and hand pick everything. We’re trying to bring the sustainability to the community.”

Glaspell said the business can appeal to just about anyone However for those who like the “sustained lifestyle,” this should be on your visit list.

“A lot of people like living sustained. If you choose to come here, you’ll be doing that as we’re looking at recycling clothing as opposed to buying from corporate companies,” she said. “We care so much about our clothing and we restock it constantly. We travel once a week, usually out of state on Wednesdays, to find the items we have for sale in the store.”

What they have are a lot of vintage t-shirts, boyfriend mom fit jeans, items with a 1970s flair, sweaters, clothing for all seasons and clothing in all sizes – including plus sizes.  The business also had shoes, jewelry, mugs and more. It's aimed at boho-styled clothing as well.

“It’s a one-stop shop to get an entire outfit,” Glaspell said. “We have a very retro vibe; one definitely of the 1970s.”

The address for the business is 202 East Main Street. The days of operation are Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Saturday hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. with the other days running from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Anyone with questions can call 252-229-4778.
