Las Trancas Restaurant at NewPointe has New Owner and New Name in Las Matracas, but Food the Same

By Jeff Toquinto on August 28, 2024

There is a new restaurant at NewPointe that has replaced a long-time eatery that has been heavily popular at the Clarksburg shopping plaza.

For those who have frequented Las Trancas along Emily Drive for years, it is no longer in business. In its place is Las Matracas.

However, for long-time customers of the business or those curious about the new name, the new owner said there is nothing to worry about.

“For the most part, everything is the same except the name,” said new owner Martin Hueso.

Hueso has been a Bridgeport resident for more than 20 years. He is now the owner of a business right off Interstate 79 and minutes from his home city.

“We bought the business from them in July,” said Hueso. “I worked at Las Trancas for a long time.”

That is one of the reasons things are not changing. Hueso liked what the previous owners offered.

“For the most part we kept the same menu, but we did add a few more meals,” he said. “We’ve seen most of our same customers and we still have the same employees.”

There are up to 18 individuals working at Las Matracas. That, he said, has helped most everything go smoothly. There was one exception, but that has been ironed out.

“Getting the liquor license was a bit difficult, but that is taken care of,” he said. “We hope to see our regular customers and new customers to enjoy our Mexican restaurant.”

The address of the restaurant is 479 Emily Drive. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
