Main Street's Newest Business has Opened its Doors

By Jeff Toquinto on November 21, 2024

There is a new business in place in Bridgeport’s downtown corridor and it is open just in time for the holiday season.

Bump and Beyond, a store featuring maternity items, has opened shop inside Market on Main. It is located on the second floor of the building sitting on the opposite side of the bridge on Main Street just past the Bridgeport Fire Department.

The business opened its doors Nov. 2 as one of many unique entities that call Market on Main home.

The owner of the business is Bridgeport resident Lindsey Cutright, who is the sole employee of Bump and Beyond. She said it focuses on maternity clothing, nursing friendly outfits, and other accessories.

As for starting the business, Cutright said it stems from personal experience that was less than ideal. The hope is to make pregnancy a little more convenient for mothers-to-be and new mothers in the area.

“I was pregnant with my son in 2022, and found there were no good places to get maternity clothing in the area,” said Cutright. “There used to me a Motherhood Maternity at the (Meadowbrook) Mall, but it’s been closed for several years. Target and Kohl’s have a few racks, but the selection is limited.”

Cutright said most of the clothing she ended up getting game online, which was less than convenient.

“You can’t try anything on that you order online, and if you’re pregnant, you definitely want to be able to try things on,” she said. “It was frustrating, and doing something about it was in the back of my mind since then. When I find out about a space opening at Market on Main this summer I jumped on it.”

Cutright is a little comfortable in her first business venture with her background and her husband’s. He is a certified public accountant in Fairmont, while she teaches math at Fairmont State University and also a real estate agent with KLM Properties.

“It’s not been intimidating because of our backgrounds helping out,” she said. “We also work in renovating houses, so I did all the work in the shop from painting, wallpapering, and installing the shelving.”

Bump and Beyond does not have set hours. The hours are posted on the business Facebook page that can be found HERE. The address for the Market on Main Building is 103 West Main Street. To contact Cutright, you can reach her via email at lindsey@hellobumpandbeyond.com.
