Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center Lineup Gets Mix as Big Amp Jazz Band on its Way to Clarksburg

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on May 19, 2022

The Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center is excited to announce Virginia’s finest big amp jazz band Good Shot Judy is coming to downtown Clarksburg on Friday, August 26, 2022, at the historic Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center, located at 444 W. Pike St. in Clarksburg, WV.

Sound. Energy. Swagger. All these arrive onstage when Good Shot Judy shows up. Grounded in the swinging cadence of the big band era, Good Shot Judy boldly ventures wherever whimsy leads them. The big amp jazz band brings melodic muscle to every show, fueled by revelers young and old who eagerly follow them on an exhilarating ride through this golden age of music.

“Good Shot Judy has a big sound and a hip vibe that is going to transport our audience back to the days when the original Robinson Grand was brand new and truly swingin’,” said Jason A Young, the Robinson Grand’s consulting program manager. “For a single Friday night in August, we are going to be the hottest speakeasy in Clarksburg!”

Founded by brothers Brett and Jeff Cahoon and named for their mother Judy Cahoon, Good Shot Judy is based in Williamsburg, Virginia and has been setting nationwide stages aflame for many years. A Good Shot Judy show offers all those tunes you know just from growing up in America – songs you can at least hum along to, if you don’t outright know most of the words. But the music itself is only part of the band’s allure; there’s something electric in the execution, and it’s that vigor that carries the day as much as the pull of recognition.

“The music that Good Shot Judy plays is a spectacle in and of itself,” said Young. “It reaches through time in the exact same way the incredible aesthetic of the Robinson Grand does.”

The Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center is one of West Virginia's premier performance venues. A recent $15 million renovation has transformed our beautiful historic local theater into one of the state's most spectacular small theater destinations in which to experience an event. Preserving the distinct historical charm of the 1913 theater, the Robinson Grand boasts the most modern updates and conveniences of any local performance venue. The comfortable 1,000-seat size of the theater makes every seat feel intimately connected with the onstage performance.

Tickets for Good Shot Judy start at only $15.00 and go on sale on Friday, May 20, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. They can be purchased online at tickets.therobinsongrand.com or by calling the Robinson Grand ticketing center at (855)-773-6283.
