Honoring the Country's 250th, Fireworks on the Hill 2026 Promises to be Spectacular Show

By Julie Perine on June 26, 2026

Behind-the-scenes work is completed, and generous sponsors have gotten on board to bring the community one of the most spectacular fireworks displays to date.

“Fireworks on the Hill” 2026 is set for 9:45 p.m. Friday, July 3, and can be viewed from anywhere on “Bridgeport Hill” – Route 50 West in Bridgeport.

“Load up the family – and your lawn chairs and blankets – and park along Bridgeport Hill at Home Depot, McDonald’s, Gabe’s, or Eastpointe,” said Bridgeport CVB Executive Director Cassie Busdeker. “Arrive early and secure your spot, maybe even enjoying a little tailgating while you wait on the show.”

The fireworks display is brought to you by the Bridgeport CVB with generous sponsors Jenkins Subaru, City of Clarksburg, Advantage Technology, Central Supply Company, RDR Energy Resources, City Of Bridgeport, Harrison County EMS, North Central West Virginia Airport, Energy Transportation and WDTV 5 News.

“As this is America’s 250th anniversary, we are doing it big this year,” said Sam Olivio of WDTV. “This fireworks show is one not to be missed, and it is sure to bring patriotic spirit to those who come out to watch.”

The fireworks will be set off at the water tower above EastPointe and will last approximately 45 minutes long.

July 3 was chosen, Olivio said, to give people the opportunity to catch other displays and host their own July 4 events.

"There's a lot of fireworks on July 4th, and a lot of people have activities on the 4th, so we thought the 3rd would be better because it kicks off the holiday weekend," he said.

Area residents have fond memories of the Bridgeport Hill fireworks display from decades past.

“The event was known in North Central West Virginia for 40 years when Hills Department Store was still in business,” Olivio said.

Once Hills closed, the display stopped too, but was brought back in 2014 by WDTV and ran through 2019, taking a hiatus during the COVID pandemic. In 2023, the show returned.

“I have great memories of the Hills fireworks show back in the day when I was a little girl, and now families are creating new memories of this nostalgic Bridgeport event,” Busdeker said.

Bridgeport and Clarksburg police and fire departments will be on hand and provide traffic assistance.
