Bridgeport Unanimous No. 1 in MetroNews Baseball Rankings

Convincing.
That was the message voters received from another successful week for the Bridgeport Indians, who not only retained the No. 1 slot in the latest MetroNews high school baseball power rankings, but garnered all 10 first-place votes from a panel of 10 radio broadcasters and sportswriters across the state.
The Tribe, 14-3 entering the week, are followed by Winfield (12-3, 82 votes), PikeView (16-3, 75), St. Albans (15-3, 73), Robert C. Byrd (14-4, 50), John Marshall (11-4, 42), Spring Valley (11-5, 41), Ripley (8-7, 22) and Shady Spring (11-5, 11).
Four schools outside the top 10 received votes: Herbert Hoover (8), Grafton (7), Nitro (5) and Nicholas County (3).
Jefferson (15-3, six first-place votes, 96 points) leads Morgantown (15-2, four first-place votes, 92) in Class AAAA.
Washington (12-7), which handed Bridgeport its only loss of the week, is fifth.
Cabell Midland (11-8), which beat Bridgeport early in the season but lost the rematct at BHS on Friday night, is sixth and Buckhannon-Upshur (9-4) is ninth.
Charleston Catholic (11-3, six first-place votes, 94 votes) leads Class AA, with Wheeling Central (9-4, one first-place vote, 84 votes) and Wyoming East (14-2, three first-place votes, 80 votes) in third and Doddridge County (14-3, 77) in fourth.
Lincoln (10 votes) and South Harrison (4 votes) are both just outside the top 10.
Huntington St. Joseph (18-1, nine first-place votes, 98 votes) leads Class A ahead of Gilmer County (17-2, eight first-place votes, 87 votes).
