Hotsinpiller Foundation Names 2025 Scholarship Recipients

The Hotsinpiller Foundation announces 2025 winners of The James and Derek Hotsinpiller Memorial scholarship.
 
The recipient of the Law Enforcement Officer Scholarship, Andrew Vernon is employed by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office. He attended Glenville State University where he majored in Administration of Justice.
 
Kyleigh Anderson is a 2025 graduate of Bridgeport High School where she held a cumulative 4.0 grade point average and participated in sports and organizations including captain of varsity softball, National Honors Society, French Honors Society (president), Girl-Up Club, French Club, FFA and manager of the school greenhouse. She also played travel softball and works as Meagher’s Irish Pub as a server. Kyleigh was also active in various community service projects. She attends Bethany University where she majors in criminal justice. The daughter of a West Virginia State Trooper, she plans to pursue a career in drug enforcement and violent crimes.
 
Nicole Staller is a 2025 graduate of Tyler Consolidated High School where she carried a 3.65 grade point average and was active in National Honors Society National Technical Honors Society, She was on the Archery Team, Band, and Color Guard with the Marching Band . Nicole also served as historian officer in the American Legion Auxiliary Tyler County Unit 48 for two years. She attends WVU where she majors in criminal justice. She would ultimately like to serve her home community as a natural resources police officer with the State of West Virginia. Nicole is the daughter of Misty and David Staller.
 
Peyton Deiridge is a 2025 graduate of Hedgesville High School, where she carried a 4.0 grade point average and was a member of National Honors Society, National Technical Honors Society, and worked as a baker at Orr’s Farm Market. The daughter of Krystal Moomaw, Peyton is a student at Fairmont State University where she majors in criminal justice, She is considering a career in crime scene investigation or working for the Crimes Against Children Unit.
 
From Salem, Talyn Snider majors in Criminal Justice at Glenville State University, where his grade point average is above 4.0. He is the son of Cassandra Snyder. Inspired by his law enforcement father, Talyn plans to pursue a federal job with the FBI. He is a 2024 graduate of Doddridge County High School, where he played football, ran track and field, played basketball, and was a member of Student Council, National Honors Society, West Union Baptist Youth Group, and Student Advisory Council. 
 
Scholarship Background:
 
Lt. Jim Hotsinpiller was a member of the Bridgeport Police Department at the time of his passing.  Derek followed in his father’s footsteps, entering law enforcement, and serving as a Deputy United States Marshal. He was fatally wounded while attempting to serve an arrest warrant. The scholarship was established to assist students interested in pursuing degrees in criminal justice.
 
Providing applicants maintain eligibility, scholarships are renewable each semester of undergraduate study. Scholarships for graduating seniors are $500 per semester, renewable for four years. Scholarships for college students who have completed their sophomore year in a related field of study are $1,000 per semester, renewable for two years. 
 
 Awards are also available to Law Enforcement Officers who are pursuing Criminal Justice degrees. 
 
The Board has awarded about 70 scholarships.
