It’s November and if this month flies by as fast as the last one, holiday events will be approaching very quickly. We are fortunate to live in a community that plans and hosts activities that brings us together to celebrate the holiday season.
Just so you won’t miss anything, I thought I’d bring you a roundup of events we are aware of; those in Bridgeport and the surrounding area. So, mark those calendars and plan to attend those which interest you and your family.
Nov. 30 – Small Business Saturday. Plan to check gift items off your list while supporting small businesses.
Dec. 2 - The Shinnston Christmas Parade will take place at 6:30 p.m.
Dec. 5: Light Up Night – Downtown Bridgeport will be aglow with festive tents, free food and other holiday giveaways from 6-8 p.m. Live entertainment and local personalities will also highlight the lighting of the city Christmas tree at the Benedum Civic Center. Fireworks will light up the sky when the tree is lit. This is the 20th anniversary of the event so expect some surprises too!
Dec. 5: The Magical Polar Experience happens at 7 p.m. at the Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center, Clarksburg. Enjoy an interactive movie experience, meet and greets, live musical performances, Prima Ballerinas, northern lights and visit with Santa at the North Pole. Dec. 6 – Clarksburg Christmas Parade takes place 6-8 p.m.in downtown Clarksburg. The annual parade is among festivities of the weekend-long Winterfest.
Dec. 6-7: Clarksburg Winterfest. Sponsored by the Progressive Women’s Association, this year’s event will feature a parade, pageantry, artisans, food vendors, holiday music and more. Activities will be held at Jackson’s Square and other downtown Clarksburg locations. It all kicks off at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6 with vendors opening at Jackson Square. Learn more about it HERE.
Dec. 7: Home for the Holidays with Landau Eugene Murphy, Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center, 8 p.m. Tickets can be purchased HERE.
Dec. 7: Bridgeport Christmas Parade – Beginning at 10 a.m. the procession will include various community groups and businesses, dancers, twirlers, marching band, athletic teams and of course, Santa and Mrs. Claus atop the Bridgeport Fire Department ladder truck. Units can register for the parade HERE.
Dec. 7: The Annual Jingle Bell Jog is on for 2024. It will take place prior to the Bridgeport Christmas Parade. Details will follow.
Dec. 7: The Second Annual Backwoods Christmas Craft and Vendor Show will take place noon-4 p.m. at The Bridge Sports Complex
Dec. 7: Christmas at the Mill at Jackson’s Mill in Weston. Fundraising event to support Jackson’s Mill Jubilee. Arts & Craft vendors, food, live music, horse-drawn wagon rides, hot chocolate bar, photo op with Santa, Christmas caroling and more. There is an admission fee for the event, which takes place 11 a.m. through 5 p.m. For more information, reach out to contact@jmjubilee.com.
Dec. 7-8: Almost Heaven Tree Festival 2024 – Saltwell Road, Shinnston. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. both days.The Candy Land theme tree festival will feature drawings for donated trees, Santa and Mrs. Claus photo ops (11 a.m.-4 p.m.), DJ, bounce houses, candy station, tattoo station, ornament making, craft vendors, and food trucks. A portion of the proceeds to benefit Wings of Hope at UHC.
Dec. 8: Christmas on the Farm will be held 12-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8: The sights and sounds of the holidays will be featured at On Eagles’ Wings barn at 371 Opekiska Ridge Road, Fairmont. Therapy horses will be Santa’s reindeer. He and Mrs. Claus will be on hand. Music and hot chocolate is included. with the $10 admission cost.
Dec. 8: Winter Truckerland will be held 2-5 p.m. at the Hobby Lobby Parking Lot, Emily Drive, Clarksburg. This decorated truck show will also feature Crunch Time Gourmet Popcorn & Apples, Delish-US WV Food Truck, Sweetly Frosted cookies, visits with Santa and hot chocolate. Please bring a new toy for the Angel Tree program.
Dec. 12: The White Hall Christmas Parade will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Dec. 13-14 Feast of the Seven Fishes Festival is scheduled for 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13 and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14. Presented by Main Street Fairmont, the event will be held at 216 Monroe Street, Fairmont. Dozens of juried arts and craft vendors and food booths will be featured, as well as live entertainment.
Dec. 14: Have Breakfast with Santa at Bridgeport Country Club at 8 a.m. Santa and other seasonal characters will appear. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased HERE. The event is hosted by Lucky Stars Boosters.
