By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on January 24, 2020

Bridgeport Public Library continues to host activities for kids, teens and adults. If you are a reading enthusiast – or just need to get out during the winter months for some activity – there’s something on the library calendar for you.

Friday’s 10:30 a.m. story time for children will be followed by a 2 p.m. adult craft class. Each participant of the one-hour class will create their own watercolor marbled scarf. Registration is required.

As the new week rolls around, the library will host a 1 p.m.  Monday, Jan. 27 “Tea & Talk,” featuring the latest drama surrounding “Sanditon” by Jane Austen. Tea will be provided and participants are welcome to bring a bag lunch.

Between 5:30-6:30 p.m. Jan. 27, the library’s adult non-fiction book club, “Real Reads” will feature discussion of “I Am Malala.” The autobiography by Malala Yousafzai is the story of the girl who stood up for education and was shot by the Talban. A limited number of copies are available at the library.

Nesting Knitters knit club for adults will meet 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wed., Jan. 29.

On Thursday, Jan. 30, children can gather at 6 p.m. for the “Crystal Snowflake” craft session.

The month winds down with children’s story time 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 31. Registration is required for the class, geared for children age 4 to 12.

In February, “Tea & Talk” featuring “Sanditon” will meet 1 p.m. Mondays at the library. On Monday, Feb. 24, Real Reads featuring “Jefferson’s Daughters” will meet at 5:30 p.m.

“Bookin’ It” – a low-impact aerobic class for adults and seniors – will meet at 2 p.m. Tuesdays. The low-impact exercise class involves a full range of motion and stretching.

For those interested in crochet, knitting and needlepoint – including crewel and embroidery – can attend “Colorful Yarns” 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Feb. 4 and Feb. 18. Bring your current project to work on while mingling with fellow fiber enthusiasts.

Wednesday activity in February includes “Nesting Knitters,” 10 a.m.-1 p.m. On Wed., Feb. 19, the library will also host a 4 p.m. Book Talk featuring “Where the Crawdads Sing.”

The “Puzzling Puzzles” group will meet 12-4:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6 with the eReader Workshop at 2 p.m.

“Pizza & Pages” for kids will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6. Registration is required.

“Get Your Game On” game night will take place 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20. Participants will be able to play different tabletop games throughout the library. This program is for all ages. Registration is required.

The following Thursday, Feb. 27, “Sassenach Sessions” meets at 6 p.m.
