Robinson Grand Community Theatre Postpones The Addams Family Until Fall of 2021

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on June 25, 2020

Robinson Grand Community Theatre, a community engagement program offered by the Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center, has made the difficult decision to postpone its fall musical The Addams Family that was slated for this October 2020 due to ongoing public health and safety concerns amidst the pandemic. The newly rescheduled date for the production will be October 4-10, 2021. More information regarding auditions, rehearsals, and other ways to get involved will be shared in the coming months.

Artistic Director of Annie and RGCT Leadership Team Member, David Cotton-Zinn explains, “Like so many other people who have had special events or celebrations postponed or canceled due to the pandemic, we are disappointed, but the health and safety of our participants and patrons are paramount. We will continue to be patient and use this time to carefully plan for our next project which will once again raise the bar and the expectations of our audiences.”

The community theatre program has set aside some spring dates in hopes of the potential for a smaller spring production should the pandemic situation begin to improve and the opportunity proves to be realistic.

“We remain cautiously optimistic for 2021. We knew this decision had to be made to preserve the program, but we are also looking forward to future endeavors that will enable us to continue to serve our community and foster the arts alongside the Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center. The community came out in full support of us with Annie and we know they’ll be there once again as soon as it is safe to do so,” states RGCT Program Director, Emily Moore.

The program’s inaugural production of Annie had a total of eight performances, four being sold out school shows, and four public shows. Between cast, crew, staff, and volunteer team members, the production had a total of around 200 people working on the production. Over 6,500 patrons attended the shows creating a buzz of support and praise throughout the surrounding region.
