Time Travel: Civic Club Sprucing up City Intersection and General Dwight D. Eisenhower in Morgantown

This is the intersection of Philadelphia Avenue and Johnson Avenue in Bridgeport. This photo is believed to be of the Bridgeport Garden Club getting ready to spruce up the area in 1986. Those shown in the photo are unknown. One thing that dates the photo is the presence of a mailbox. This photo showing Dwight D. Eisenhower's 131st is from the West Virginia Regional & History Center. According to their information, Eisenhower, who served as Supreme Commander of Allied Forces during World War II and the 34th President of the United States, received a Doctor of Laws honorary degree from West Virginia University in September of 1947 when he visited campus for a special convocation ceremony at Mountaineer Field.
