DHHR Reports 119 New COVID Cases; Harrison County's Number at 6,106; State Deaths at 2,848

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on June 10, 2021

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources is reporting as of this morning (Thursday, June 10) the total number of COVID-19 cases has increased from 162,726 to 162,845; an increase of 119.

Thursday's report is showing that the total number of tests given is 2,966,404 and the percentage of positive cases vs. tests given is 5.05 percent. The daily percent positive is at 2.26 percent (daily tests/confirmatory test results).

According to the DHHR website, Harrison County's numbers are at 6,106 (4,225 confirmed cases,1,881 probable cases), 145 active cases, and 80 deaths with 5,881 recoveries.

Please note that delays may be experienced with the reporting of information from the local health department to DHHR. As case surveillance continues at the local health department level, it may reveal that those tested in a certain county may not be a resident of that county, or even the state as an individual in question may have crossed the state border to be tested.

The total number of deaths related to the coronavirus has increased from 2,846 to 2,848.

DHHR has confirmed the deaths of a 93-year old female from Harrison County and a 61-year old male from Randolph County.

“Each tragic death reported is a solemn reminder of the seriousness of this disease,” said Bill J. Crouch, DHHR Cabinet Secretary. “We send our sympathy to these families and urge everyone over the age of 12 who has not received a COVID vaccine to schedule one today.”

The number of recoveries from the virus is at 156,768 with active cases at 3,229.

According to the DHHR site, there are 133 hospitalizations as of June 9.
